What is the fastest way to make a man retreat?
Try to have a serious conversation with him! It is like opening your mouth turns men into Forest Gump. (Not all men by any means.)
Alright, I do not intend this to be male bashing because I do believe that the male gender gets more than its fair share now days.
Any one else out there have a gender specific annoyance they would like to share? All in good fun, of course.
And that is all I have to say about that!

You have me there. When my girlfriend and I get together we can talk for hours! On the other hand, we do tend to at least have some substance to what we talk about. I am acquainted with and individual who can ramble on and on about absolutely nothing! This person feels that everyone must be interested in every minute facet of their life, right down to the growing of their toenails! They like to take many “detours” on the way to the end of the topic at hand and many a times I have forgotten what it was we were discussing (a term I use lightly because a discussion would imply a two way conversation) by the time they finish. I have found myself in the uncomfortable position of making abridgments by saying things such as “I do not need the details, just give me the end” or “skip all that bother, what is your point?”
Perhaps it may be more practical to go say Hi to your acquaintance. Leave a tape recorder there in record mode. Go do the shopping and come back later. Remove the tape and listen to the one sided convo at your leisure!

Selective hearing syndrome in men! When I ask something that he doesn't want to deal with or a favour (like "can you lift that heavy thing through from the kitchen, please" he happily shuts me out - BUT if I ask in the next sentence if he'd like a beer bringing through, or other such favours I will not repeat in a blog (heh,heh) he has perfect hearing again. Amazing. (still love him heaps though).

when you want them to be specific. e.g he says I will call you later. you want to know what time coz maybe you have APs and other stuff to do. he thinks you wnats him to marry you and you are clinging! they all do that!

I starting to dig a hole with this...Why is it that there are not more women politicians? They seem to have the knack, of never answering a straight forward question, with a straight forward answer, well one that men can understand. Her indoors, will always, so I've discovered, ask me to do something, but it will always be in code. She will suggest doing something, but she will not ask directly. But...'I have a cunning plan' I just do as I'm told..... well most of the time and then Akerman Deafness syndrome takes over.

Paul...Sounds like a rather cunning plan...what on Earth would a woman do if a man actually did all the things she asked? (My cynical side says she would drop him faster than she could say “I want Prada.” ) Women are such fickle creatures (and yes I can say that ladies, you know it’s true.) Women may be tactful and diplomatic, yet some of us would start a full blown war on a mood swing… that is why there is not more women politicians.

Well it may not be gender specific L, but women.. I mean. How on earth do you guys find so much to talk about? Trying to get on the phone sometimes.. it would be quicker to go to the nearest phone kiosk!
